Adding 3Par storage, ok to start web services?

Post by mcrampton »

Hi there, I just did the upgrade to Veeam 8 and wanted to try out the integration with our 3Par 7200. I run the New HP 3Par StoreServ Storage wizard, enter my credentials etc, then I receive a popup which says "Web Services on storage xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx are not running. Web services deliver a programming interface for performing storage management tasks. Would you like to start Web Services?" Is it safe for me to click Yes to this, or is there something I should do on the 3Par itself? Anyone been through this wizard who can comment?

Thanks. I just tried it and then I get a message that says "Virtual Copy feature that enables storage snapshots is not licensed on HP 3Par StoreServer storage xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx".

I guess I will investigate this, as I thought I had a fully licensed unit.

We had the same issue during our Eval. You have to have Virtual Copy licensed on the array the backup snapshots are being performed on. We were able to work with our rep from HP to get a 6 month eval license to apply to our 7200.

Hi Mike, indeed Virtual Copy license on the 3Par is required for Veeam to be able to take storage snapshots. Let us know if the license is missing on HP side, otherwise feel free to open a case with us to better investigate.
