Advantages of having Veeam Appliance in same domain?
Are there any advantages of having a Veeam Appliance on the same domain as the VMs it is backing up? For instance, the Veeam appliance will reside on a seprate VLAN than the VMs that it backs up, and ports will be opened to allow traffic to vcenter, esx hosts, and enterprise manager server. Thank you.

Hi Hubert, not getting your question, you mean Active Directory domain, or IP broadcast domain?
For AD, usually is for security reasons, so you can decide who can login to Veeam and manage backup, and most of all have access to restores (and thus the files inside all VMs...). Cons are for example, when you loose AD you will have further problems in accessing Veeam to do restores.
For IP, there is no problem in running Veeam in e separated network, until you have correct routes and the needed ports opened, you can find the list in the user guide.
Luca.
