After moving Windows 2003 exchange server no vss eventts

Hello
I've moves a Windows 2003 server with an exchange 2003 fron an esx 4.0 to an esx 5.5U1.
On my old esx 4.0, the event logs Application of the windows 2003 VM and system show me detailled tasks of VSS oerations.
But nothing on the same VM with vmware tools updated on the new esx 5.5.
I wonder if the Exchange Database is correctly saved with VSS mecanism.

What's your Exchange VSS writer logging level? Also do you have SP1 installed on your Windows host?

My Windows 2003 server has SP2 installed.
How do i check or change the Exchange VSS writer logging level ?
Anyway averything was correct on my Esx 4.0... and there is any warning or error message on in the VM or in Veeam.

Do you use VMware quiescence or Veeam's AAIP? Please keep in mind that Veeam supports Exchange processing only starting from Exchange 2010, so you have to use tools quiescence instead. Please make sure that you have VMware tools running on the Exchange VM. Also please double-check that you have VSS writer enabled as it is disabled by default in SBS server 2003.

You can follow this KB to capture the VSS log in order to check if VSS is doing any job during backup session. You can also check how to setup VSS writer log level here.

Finally, I think that you should consider upgrading your environment as Windows 2003 is not supported anymore.

I use AAIP.
VMware tools are up to date and running.
As you can see in my logs, VSS writer is activated and works properly in esx 4. I just copy this VM in an esx 5.5 lab.

Then please try disabling AAIP and enable VMware quiescence. Also I think it's worth contacting VMware support because as far as I can see nothing has changed in your environment except ESXi version.

Did you uninstall/reinstall VMware tools after migrating between ESX versions?

Even if the tools version is the same, I have had issues where moving between VMware versions the VMtools don't act quite right.

Well, it works but...
Vmware tools are up to date.
With AAIP disabled and VMware quiescence enabled, excgange makes a VVS snapshot in copy mode and not in full mode like AAIP does in esx 4.0. So the exchanhe logs are not truncated.
You have to perfrom a NTBackup full bakcup (to a NAS or another disk) to force exchange to truncate the logs.

So,
Esx 4.0
AAIP : VSS snapshot and echange log trucation
VMware quiescence : no VSS snapshot and no truncation

Esx 5.5
AAIP : no VSS snapshot and no exchange log trucation
VMware quiescence : VSS snapshot no exchange log trucation
