I should have said RMAN (not an Oracle DBA).

When we purchased VB&R we were told that in v10 it would support RMAN integration as an RMAN target and our DBAs could control the backups like they always have. If that feature being accelerated or do we still need to wait until v10?

RMAN plug-in is not included in U3 but is largely ready, and there's a private beta available (contact your Veeam sales rep if you would like to participate).

Here's the latest information regarding that from Anton's weekly digest:
Gostev wrote: We've shipped the RTM build of Update 3 for Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 last week! This build goes to our Veeam Cloud Connect service providers only, so that they're able to provide Day 1 support of the new B&R release when it becomes generally available in a couple of weeks.
Thanks.

I still don't see "v9 Update 3" on the downloads list. Any ideas when it will show up there?

The fix is included in Veeam Agent for Windows 2.1, released along with Veeam B&R 9.5 U3. I'm not sure if it is included in Veeam B&R itself, checking...

With high hopes I've upgraded our B&R console from 9.5u2 to 9.5u3. Sadly I can confirm the fix is not part of B&R9.5u3.

What do you recommand please?

Thanks!

Matt, the product that will be used to protect AHV Virtual Machines is a seperate product a v1 that we hope to have a beta early in 2018 with GA of that v1 product shortly after.

It will leverage VBR for several features, repositories being the main target of backup jobs from the Veeam Backup Proxy Appliance for AHV. It will use the same file format .VBK and .VIB. You will also be able to leverage VBR for Backup Copy, Tape Backup and Cloud Connect backup options.

from a recovery point of view Full VM recovery will come from the Web Interface on the Veeam Backup Proxy Appliance for AHV as well as creating those inital backup jobs. If granular file recovery or Application Item Level Recovery is required again we can leverage VBR in this instance to perform that recovery.

More details will follow on this, All SEs have the information in detail to cover this off with you.

I'm not completely confident about this statement, I downgraded my readynas to an earlier version and did the tests with the exact same results.
I factory wiped the readynas with the lower readynas OS and again the same results.
I then created a new datastore and the problem went away.

It could be that Veeam 9.5u3 supports Readynas OS 6.9.0 / 6.9.1 but that you only need to recreate the datastore. Before I continue with a new upgrade to readynas OS 6.9.1 and do some new testings with it, I want to create a few backups since I'm already behind for a couple of days. Maybe I have some time between christmas and new year to do it. I'll post the results here

As a workaround, you can set the UseCifsVirtualSynthetic registry value to zero to disable fastclone for all CIFS shares added to Veeam B&R. This should prevent the issue.

If I raise a support ticket is that also the fix which will be implemented? Otherwise I'll raise a ticket later this afternoon when i have a bit of free time

Thanks!

Yes, this is currently the solution for Veeam B&R. Hotfix was available for Veeam Agent for Windows only (and now included into the newly released 2.1 version).

Many thanks Alexander!

I've added a REG_DWORD (32-bit) with the name UseCifsVirtualSynthetic and a data value of 0 to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication\ on our Veeam server, restarted the veeam backup service and its working like a charm.

Kudo's for you!

Does the archive feature plan to support S3 compatible storage? Is there a beta?
