Any quick way to recreate lost Virtual Labs?
Case 05355115
Our dedicated virtual lab host has been reformatted and the lab vm's have been lost. They are still defined in Veeam B&R, but I can't go into the propertied to have them recreated. "Failed to find virtual lab 'labname' on the host 'hostname'. The object has already been deleted or has not been completely created".
I want to just click properties, next, next, next, and have the lab recreated, just like what happens with the host definition when reinstalling the software.
I'd also note that Veeam seemed to refuse to back up it's own virtual labs, which makes this a bit more frustrating. (I tried backing them up but it excluded the labs)
Thanks.

Re: Any quick way to recreate lost Virtual Labs?
I see you literally just opened a support case, please do give them more than a few seconds to respond.
And in future, kindly don't cross-post technical issues here immediately after creating a support case.
As explained when you click New Topic, this is not a support forum for environment-specific problems.
In your case, I will guess that manual configuration database edits by a support engineer might be required.
Thanks!

Re: Any quick way to recreate lost Virtual Labs?
@Anton: It would be a great enhancement if we could redeploy the virtual lab, instead of having to recreate it or having to contact support. I've seen this multiple times, that something happend to the virtual lab VM and Veeam was no longer able to find/access it. It doesn't take much time to create a new one, if you're doing this regularly, but for many customers this often is complicated.
So if this is a feature request, I would give a +1.

Re: Any quick way to recreate lost Virtual Labs?
I'm not sure why Next Next Next does not work (at least I see no reason) and the error is very strange too, so support needs to take a look how the product was put in this condition. If there's a bug, they will raise with R&D to fix. Normally, just following the wizard is quite standard process to attach/refresh/update some entity. For example, it's very common to do this to update vCenter certificate in Veeam after re-deploying vCenter.

I had the same situation once, customer deleted the virtual lab vm. If veeam cannot find the virtual lab vm, you can‘t open the virtual lab properties again.
It was a small environment with two subnet. We don‘t openened a support case, because a new virtual lab was created again within 5 Minutes. Then we modified the surebackup job to use the new virtual lab and removed the obsolete lab in the console.

Re: Any quick way to recreate lost Virtual Labs?
Even if this thread is a little bit old I think this would be quite useful.
Consider that often VMware admins are not Backup admins, so the first ones can delete some resources if they don't know what they are for.
I think Virtual Lab deployment should be idempotent and recreate all VMware resources when needed.
Consider that if Virtual Lab is defined and not actually present in VMware infrastructure I must recreate by hand another one and replace it in ALL SureBackup Jobs.
