Any way to detect bit rot on older files?

Post by SnakeSK »

Hello,

Is there any way or functionality in VBR to check for integrity of files that have been sitting on drives for week/months/years?

So far health check and surebackup checks only the current chain. How about files older than XX weeks? Or previous chain? Could this be built into the ui?

Backup validator is a way, but it is cumbersome to script for it. Thank you

For SureBackup it's possible to test VMs from a certain restore point or date. This is available in the GUI via "start to" and can also be scripted.

Scripting the Validator shouldn't be that complex and I think there are even some existing Scripts in the Veeam Community.
