Anyone have info on Veeam Remote Tape Access Service software?

Anyone familiar with this Veeam software product? Veeam Remote Tape Access Service v9.0.0.902

This software is installed on a server and we have a HP MLS 2024 Library where we are trying to do our VM backups to.

I can't find any info via Google or this Veeam forum.

Also I have a Veeam Products Lifecycle pdf and I don't see an entry for that software on there as well.

I don't see any new software versions for this software on the Veeam website. Is this software no more?

We are going to do a new install of Veeam with Windows 2016 Server and backup to tape.

Will we need this software to do tape backups?

It is an automatically deployed and managed service behind the Veeam Backup & Replication component called Tape Server. So yes, you most definitely need that to do tape backups. Thanks!

Sorry, let me backup here.

Under the Windows 2008 Server > control panel > Add/Remove Software, there in addition to having an entry for Veeam Backup and Replication, there is also an entry for Veeam Remote Tape Access Service. Wasn't sure if this was separate software we had to purchase or if you saying it comes with Backup and Replication software automatically.

Ok, makes sense.

Just so I understand, that is why under the Add/Remove programs why I'm seeing the two entries for Veeam. Will that be the same once we install the new version of Veeam 95 Backup and Recovery? Also seeing an entry for Remote Tape Access Service too?

Yes, after you register this server as a Tape Server in the Veeam console.
