Application aware backup job
Hi, I just found out that my 1 job does not have application aware activated. My question: Should I just activate it, with vms not requiring it in the job, or should I create a seperate job with application aware active for the vms requiring it (AD, SQL...)?

Re: Application aware backup job
Hi CDS, welcome to the forums.
In general, Application Aware Processing is best to be enabled to ensure application consistent backups. Our forum FAQ has a pretty long section explaining the nuances of Application Aware Processing.
Keep in mind, you can configure Application Aware Processing per object in job (individual VMs, folders, tags, etc), so it's not really an issue to have jobs where some VMs use Application Aware Processing and some do not, but naturally this can be a little hard to follow sometimes, so separate jobs for Application Aware Processing and no Application Aware Processing is pretty normal also, just it's not a requirement to achieve the same end goal.
In general, you want to have some preparation of the OS being backed up so that it's in a consistent state, else you have crash consistent backups, which may result in some data being in a non-consistent state. Our User Guide page here explains this in more details.
Thanks!
