So I use application aware processing for our servers (SQL,ETC) along with SAN side integrated snapshots (3par). The SAN snapshots work great, however what I have noticed is Application aware backups take forever to begin processing. In some cases 4-5 hours before an actual byte of data is moved. During this time it says 'detecting'. What is taking so long to begin processing? Some of these jobs have dozens of vms, some only a handful. Thanks.

Nick, your best bet would be to ask support engineers to review log files to define what actually happens during this time.
