Hello everyone,
I'm currently evaluating veeam for our company using the 30-day trial. The trial runs with all Enterprise features.
A quick question regarding Standard and Enterprise versions. Am I right in saying that to be able to restore Exchange, SQL and AD items I would need the Enterprise version for its U-AIR capabilites? What do people with Standard edition do regarding Exchange, SQL etc? Does Standard edition truncate Exchange and SQL logs?
many thanks,
Scott

Re: Application backup and restore - Standard vs Enterprise
Hi Scott,
differences are about "how" you restore those items. It's right saying enterprise edition can use u-air to offer "better" restore experience, but nonetheless you can restore everything also with the standard edition. You would need to restore the files such as the exchange databases, and then mount them in Exchange server. It's more time-consuming and requires more steps.
About log truncation, I can do it in every backup by configuring application-aware settings in the job.
Luca.

Re: Application backup and restore - Standard vs Enterprise
Many thanks for the swift replies! I must say I am liking veeam very much so far (been using Backup Exec). I understand now that for Standard you would be able to get at the backed up Exchange files and then use Exchange's Recovery Database to mount and restore.
I had seen that document which is what made me question what Standard did actually offer with regards to Exchange, SQL and AD.

In the upcoming 6.5 release, Standard Edition will also provide you with ability to restore individual Exchange items.
