Archive design with DataDomain

Post by zleffa »

Hello everyone.
What is the best solution to achieve next

1. Backup Exchange every day to local repository
2. For last 10 days keep the backup on local repository for ability to do fast restore
3. Archive backup 90 days (every single day) to DataDomain

If I know Backup Copy Job use schema 1 full + incr, and there is limit for 60 incr in one backup chain.

Thank for advice

It's per job limitation. So, potentially you can have two backup jobs running on bimonthly basis with 45 point retention each.

Create two backup copy jobs. Set daily copy interval for them and 45 as a number of restore points. Then, disable one of them, and let the other run for 45 days. On the 46th day, do the opposite (enable the first job, disable the second).

If should be possible to automate everything via PS, so that, manual efforts wouldn't be needed.

Thanks.
