Archive to tape and restore from tape

For archiving purposes we would like to move our VM backups that Veeam creates to tape. What is the best way of doing this? Do I just backup the Veeam backup folder and all its content to tape?

If I wanted to restore the complete backup set from tape from say a monthly tape backup of the Veeam files, how would that be accomplished?
