Ask License

Post by mirfan »

Hi,

if we used veeam plugins for SAP Hana and veeam backup agent in one server.
does it count 2 licenses or 1 license?

Regards

Hello,
one license because it's the same workload.

Best regards,
Hannes

The Guide is not very clear about that. It talks only about vm image level backup of a SAP hana Server.
But i'm almost certain that this server will only need one license with a Veeam agent that is managed by the same Veeam B&R server

An SAP HANA server protected by both Veeam Plug-in and Veeam Backup & Replication consumes a license unit only once. For example, you have an SAP HANA server that you back up using Veeam Plug-in. If you also back up this server using image-level backup functionality of Veeam Backup & Replication, additional license unit will not be consumed.

Yes, in fact What's New in v10 has this specific example when explaining the "No double licensing" feature, see the Licensing section.
