What I would like to do (for DR) is make an automated extra copy of my latest Fullbackup (on StoreOnce Catalyst) and pull it onto Windows storage. Just as a spare, to be copied back to StoreOnce & imported to Veeam if the main store became unusable. It wouldn't have to be used directly from Windows storage (though a bonus if it could be). The V10 Catalyst Copy function apparently only copies from StoreOnce to StoreOnce, not to Windows, and I don't want to buy another StoreOnce.
For non-Catalyst backups (VAW) I can create & run a File Copy Job that copies a .vib from Windows server to Windows server - but VAW is not Catalyst. [I just chose a vib to test quickly: vbk should be no different]
For Catalyst jobs, I can manually select a Catalyst .vib (via Files page in the GUI) and copy it to a Windows server - but that is manual, not automated.
I figure that whatever I can do manually via the GUI I ought to be able to do via Veeam PowerShell/Data Management APIs - and PowerShell can be automated.
Is there a way in Powershell? The Add-VBRCopyJob looks hopeful, with Type=Files but it rejects the name of the StoreOnce. Or maybe Export-RestorePoint?
If there is a way, would it rehydrate the backups?
TIA

Re: Automated File Copy from StoreOnce Catalyst to Windows?
Hi Ian, how you're going to get backups back to Catalyst? Simply copying them will not work due to some specifics in how metadata is stored in the backup file on a Catalyst Store. It has to be either Veeam B&R backup/backup copy job or evacuation process. That said, you will be able to import backups right from the Windows repository if required.
If you still need the exact PS commands for doing that, please ask in the corresponding subforum.
And yes, backups will rehydrate upon being copied out of a dedupe appliance.

Re: Automated File Copy from StoreOnce Catalyst to Windows?
Thanks Alex, Catalyst is great, but is rather special. Although a manual copy of Catalyst files (.vbk + vibs) to Windows server might work, I don't know if it would actually be usable for a restore - might be worth testing. If usable, it isn't necessary to push it back to Catalyst.
I'll see what they say over in PowerShell about automating the manual copy process.

Yes, you will be able to import the backups from a Windows server and restore from them, this will not be an issue.
