Hi Guys,
I'm wondering if anyone has deployed a Veeam Backup & Replication Server (as a VM) in Azure. Meaning that the backup server itself is a VM in Azure and the Machines it will be backing up are on premise. Any pros and cons are welcomed. I just want people's thoughts on a design like that.
Thanks in advance for your attention and feedback.

Re: Azure Veeam Backup Server
Hello,
and welcome to the forums. Yes, that happens from time to time. But usually not for backing up on-prem VMs.
Could you describe a little bit more what your environment and goals look like? In general many customers put the backup server next to the vCenter or to the DR / backup copy site depending on the bandwidth and restore requirements.
I personally don't like the idea of a backup server in clouds where the cloud provider just shuts down VMs during upgrades. As far as I have heard, this still happens in Azure as there is no VMotion for maintenance / upgrades. But that's just my personal opinion.
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Azure Veeam Backup Server
The biggest challenge to me would be connectivity, how are you going to connect your production environment to Azure site, so that backup server can see local infrastructure? Azure Site-to-Site VPN. something else? Thanks!
