B&R open Drives in Windows during Backup

Hi all

just created a Backup for an Windows 2012 DC. After the Backup was started the Windows PopUp with the Message that some Drives are inconsistent on the Backup Server.
The opened Drives was the C: Drive and the System Reservation of the Windows 2012 Server. Just before the Backup Finish his Job, the Drives closed and everything seems to be ok.
All other Backups don't open any Drives during the Backup.

Is that the normal procedure if you Backup a Windows 2012 Server?

B&R Version 6.5.0.109 (64 bit) on a Windows 2008 R2 over VMWare 5.1

Hi Rolf, do you possibly have a similar issue that is discussed in these threads - Windows - Drive Not Ready : Exception Processing and You need to format the disk in drive G:?

not sure, then there is no problem with the backup itself. seems to be running and the result is success.

if you fired up the backup, few seconds later the volumes are mounted.


after the backup finish the job, all drives from the backup vm are gone.

This is due to how hot add backup works (by mouting backed up VM disks to backup proxy VM).
If it bothers you, just disable and scrub automount as per 2nd topic mentioned by Vitaly.

thank you two. was just wondering why they open some drives. never see that on a other windows vm.
