B&R server in a dark site

Post by lowlander »

Regarding deploying B&R in a dark site :

Are there any concerns when Veeam B&R server is unable to contact dev.veeam.com and vbr.butler.veeam.com / autolk.veeam.com ?

as far as I can guess now :
- the config is unable to download information about available updates over internet > should not be a big deal ?
- license file is not automatically updated > big deal ?

Any other consequences ?

thanks !

Hi,

If you lock your backup server in a dark site, then usage reporting to VCSP Pulse (planned for future), license auto-update, workload weight matrix update, product updates will not be available. As for the core features of the product, then all of them will be available.

Thanks!

Thanks for the explanation.

So basically the core features of B&R are not impacted in a dark site scenario ?

Hello Vitaly, quick question is it possible to activate Veeam BR 11 instance in darksite? Or internet connection is needed?

Hello James,

If by activation you mean installation, then yes. You just need a license key and you should be good. No internet connection is needed.

Thank you!
