Running esxi 4.1 with Veeam 6.5. I have a vm with the guest OS server 2008r2 and running a MySQL database. Looking for some suggestions on the best way to have a solid backup of both the vm and database.
I have read a couple post recommending enabling VMWare tools quiescence and running scripts before and after. Has anyone used this meathod and successfully recovered both the vm and the databse? If so can someone share the scripts or tell me where I can find them.
thanks in advance..

Re: backing up a vm guest OS 08r2 with a MySQL DB?
Basically you want to make mysqldumps (such as https://community.spiceworks.com/script ... up-windows for example) by leveraging the script using Application Aware Processing however if you want to do point in time recovery more easy it is advised to use the BINLOGS from MySQL.

Re: backing up a vm guest OS 08r2 with a MySQL DB?
Version 6.5 didn't have AAIP pre-freeze and post-thaw scripts. Thus, VMware tools quiescence seems to be the only option.
Also, I'd recommend your product installation to the latest available version, since the one you're leveraging is not even supported any longer.
Thanks.
