Backing Up 'specific word contained' named VMs

Post by RGrehan83 »

Hi All,

Completely new to the product and I'm assessing if this is something we'll use at our company. We'd like to automate a back-up of VMs containing key words - I could really only find the straight forward way of selecting VM by VM. Is there a way of setting a rule to capture a VM containing a string of letters or words eg prefixed with 'TFS'?

Appreciate any responses.

Many thanks,

RG

Hello, we do not provide this capability today in UI, but you can populate the job like that through PowerShell script. What most customers usually do, is create VM folders in vSphere and group all VMs using those, then configure the job to backup required VM folders. Thanks!

Should any assistance with scripting be needed, don’t hesitate to create a new topic at corresponding subforum. Thanks.
