Backing up SQL, Exchange and DC servers?

Post by Xeronimo74 »

Hi,

Is there something I should know before backing up SQL, Exchange and DC servers using Veeam?

Right now I'm simply backing them up like I'm backing up my other servers (file servers mainly). Is that the right thing to do?

Thanks,

Jerome

Hello Jerome, you just need to make sure you have Veeam VSS enabled on the Transaction Consistency step of the wizard. Other that that, no differences from regular servers.

One note: While it should be that easy, I'd strongly suggest testing restore of your backups. Soon enough SureBackup will help a lot with that, but in the meantime your backups are only as good as your restores. If you then have any problems with the restore, c'mon back to the forums and I'm sure folks will be glad to help.
