Backup an FT VM

Post by verre »

Hi, I have some FT VMs and I know that it is no possible to backup due to the unsupported snapshots on ft vms. I've already read some old post about how to workaround the problem with powershell scrips.... I wanted to know if there are in v7 or v8 an automated option in backup jobs which can automatically turn off FT before a backup job.
Thank you

Yes, it can be done with the new "pre-job" script functionality. Thanks.

Thank you, but it seems to be a script that runs inside the guest (for exampre in order to quiesce the application) but not on the vcenter (needed to turn-off FT)...

Not exactly and there is a small note about these scripts ;)
Custom scripts you define in the advanced job settings relate to the backup job itself, not the VM quiescence process. To specify pre-freeze and post-thaw scripts for VM image quiescence, use the Guest Processing step of the wizard.
