Backup and restore of SharePoint 2007

Post by marky »

Have I read correctly that B&R 7 cannot backup SharePoint 2007 (SharePoint on a Hyper-V, SQL DB on a physical) that would enable us to restore individual items (e.g. deleted document library)?

quote "Veeam B&R only supports SharePoint 2010 or later for application-item recovery"

Thanks

It is correct that application-item recovery (Veeam Explorer for SharePoint) supports Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010/2013 only. However, for earlier versions you can utilize other recovery methods to restore the database file or entire VM.

That said, the scenario with "SQL DB on a physical" is not actually supported, since you need an image-level backup of SQL Server hosting SharePoint content database, so SQL should be virtualized.

So basically unless the DB is on a VM and is SharePoint 2010/13 we have no Backup and/or restore brick level capability?

Well, in fact, if you have SharePoint content database files (.mdf) available (e.g. backed up by some third-party solution), you can still use Veeam Explorer for SharePoint to browse it and perform some types of restore. But Veeam B&R cannot be used to backup physical servers.
