Hello,
I used to use Timothy's restore point simulator all the time to do sizings. Since it's advised to use the official one, I tried that. There is an option to enter the backup copy info, but not to specify backup archiving explicitly. In Tim's outlut you could easily see the growth with a list of full, incrementals, etc.
I do see a difference between the outcomes if putting refs/xfs to true, so is it so that the calculator assumes spaceless full backups and hence this is accurate for archive sizing?
Cheers, Michael

Re: Backup archiving not in the new sizing tool
Hi Michael
Thanks
Fabian
I can put in the information for GFS restore points. GFS Restore Points are full backups for archival purposes. There is an option to enter the backup copy info, but not to specify backup archiving explicitly
Yes, Synthesized GFS backup files are spaceless full backups if you use reFS or XFS as the filesystem.I do see a difference between the outcomes if putting refs/xfs to true, so is it so that the calculator assumes spaceless full backups and hence this is accurate for archive sizing?
Thanks
Fabian
