Backup Copy - Changed Restore Points To Keep
Hello,
I've decreased the number of restore points in three backup copy jobs. In two jobs the number of restore points was reduced after the next backup copy cycle was finished, in the third one nothing changed.
The only difference was that the third job was finished manually by starting a new sync, could this be the reason? Should it reduce the restore point after the next backup copy cycle?
Greetings

Does the job session log contain any events related to retention? Do you mean that during this cycle the new restore point was created, the oldest increment was merged into the full backup but the total amount of restore points hasn't changed?

No, there is even no entry for merge. So, I assume that there was neither merge nor decrease because I started the resync manually. I'll observe it and check the behaviour after the next full cycle without manual intervention.

Re: Backup Copy - Changed Restore Points To Keep
Just wondering:
1) Haven't you executed a full backup cycle?
2) Isn't "read the entire restore point" (backup copy job -> settings -> target) option enabled on the third job by any chance?
Thanks!

Re: Backup Copy - Changed Restore Points To Keep
Now, after a full backup cycle withount manual intervention the restore points were reduced. But I wonder why they were reduced to 12 restore points while I configured to keep 14 restore points. All other backup copy jobs reduced the restore points to 14...

It's hard to guess without looking closer at your configuration, I'd recommend asking support for assistance with this. Thanks!
