Backup copy enhancement request
I'd like to exclude disks from backup copy jobs. I backup the SQL logs on the backup job and then have Veeam truncate the logs. I don't need those logs on the backup copy (same with Exchange). It would be nice to exclude that disk.

Re: Backup copy enhancement request
As it stands from its name, backup copy job creates exact copy of "source" VM. So, it's not possible to exclude certain virtual disks from being processed. Anyway, thanks for the feedback; much appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Backup copy enhancement request
Hi. Is there a possibility to manually achive an exclude of single disks for the backup copy job?
As I need to reduce the amount of data which needs to be transferred over WAN this would be very important for me.
Thanks a lot.

Re: Backup copy enhancement request
Hello Timo and thanks for the feedback!
As v.Eremin wrote above, it`s not possible to exclude particular disks from backup copy job.
In your case I would suggest to split the job for 2, since you can choose which disks of VM to backup and backup copy only the one you need.
Thank you.

[MERGED] Feature request - exclude volume from backup copy j
Hi.
Would be great to be able to exclude a virtual harddrive from backup COPY JOB too.
Many of our customers are running 2012 R2 Essentials with its great client backup. We always redirect this data to a separate volume in the VM. It can grow pretty large so this volume is often on cheaper SATA San at the customer site. Since this is not specially critical data it would be great not to send this volume through Cloud Connect at the remote repository.

Re: Backup copy enhancement request
The tip to create 2 jobs is actually an OK workaround for this.

[MERGED] Backup Copy - Exclude Disk
Hi folks,
Is it at all possible or could it be possible to to have a backup copy of a VM but with the ability to exclude a disk on the copy? I know that means it's not a copy though
We have one VM. Full backup to disk. Normally we would have a backup copy to an offsite SAN. However we are not allowed to put some information (residing on it's own disk in the VM) offsite.
So I think the only solution would be two different backup jobs, one full and one offsite excluding that disk?
Thanks
Daithi

Yes, two backup jobs would be a way to go in this situation.

It is not possible, but you can try to give one of the suggestions above a try.

Yes it's works but with only one disk by Job you loose the instant VM recovery Feature !frankive wrote:The tip to create 2 jobs is actually an OK workaround for this.

[MERGED] Exclude Disks from Backup Copy job
I configured a backup copy job, to keep backup data for a specific VM longer, than we defined for the standard backup job. This VM has 5 disks and I just want to have two of these five disks in the backup copy job, but I couldn't find an option to just exclude a disk from a VM. Does anyone know if this is possible or not?
thx

Hi sandsturm,
excluding the disk from VM on backup copy job is not possible.
Please take a look at this thread, might give you a workaround.
