Backup copy error over weekend
Veeam runs a backup job every evening to my Backup Server, then in a morning it runs a backup copy to a USB external drive which is taken offsite at the end of the day.
I have set the backup to only run Mon-Fri.
I have set the backup copy job to transfer the data between 10-4pm Mon-Fri in the schedule (which is when the USB drive is connected).
But when I get into the office on a Monday morning, I have loads of failed emails saying that the backup drive could not be found!
Does anyone know why this is even though I have set the schedule to only transfer Mon-Fri?
Cheers

Hello Sean,
Which of the jobs sends the errors, backup or backup copy one?
Do you use rotation drives option by the way?
Thanks!

Re: Backup copy error over weekend
It's the Backup Copy job, gives an error: Cannot connect to target backup repository.
Obviously because the USB drive is not connected on site over the weekend. I don't use the rotating option, I just use one drive, and that copies over the previous night's backup

Thanks for the reply.
Without the rotation option, you will have separate backup chains on the drives, which will take more space.
By the way, what version of VBR are you at?

Re: Backup copy error over weekend
We are using V8 at present. The only way I can stop the error, is to manually disable the backup copy job on a Friday, then re-run Monday. but as you can imagine this is not ideal

Re: Backup copy error over weekend
You are right, that`s not the best workaround. You can use powershell script to start and stop the job automatically, by the way.
Once again, I would suggest to Configure the Backup Repository for Rotated Drives. It should also help to avoid the errors, even without powershell.
Thanks!
