Backup Copy - Failed to load digests from target
Good Morning All ..
Support Case ID: 00471267
I am attempting to setup a WAN accelerated backup copy but have run in to a few issues.
I took a local backup copy to use as a seed at the destination repository. 3 of the 4 VMs copied successfully on the first attempt.
The 4th VM however includes a large (1.9TB) disk. It took 24:04:51 to calculate the disk digests at the target but then warned that it "Failed to load digests from target."
Does this mean that it will attempt to copy the entire disk across the WAN ?
Is there any way to retry the attempt to load the digests from the target ?
Tech Support suggested the seed might be corrupt so i will try again from scratch but i think that is unlikely as the 3 other VMs were successful and the digest was created but it was the transfer that appeared to fail.
Thanks
Andrew

Re: Backup Copy - Failed to load digests from target
I had issues with VMs containing large VMDKs, but my issue was fixed with the release of R2. My issues were with calculating disk digests and it continuously failed to transfer the large disk.

Re: Backup Copy - Failed to load digests from target
I'm wondering what product version you're using. Previously, there have been certain issues with backup copy job not working properly with disks larger than 1.8 TB. Most of this issues have been addressed in version 7R2.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Previously i was using B&R 7 Patch 1. Have just upgraded to R2 and will try again.
Hopefully it will solve my problems.

Re: Backup Copy - Failed to load digests from target
I have upgraded to R2 and setup a new Backup Copy job using the same method previously.
All of the other VM disks processed as expected. Calculate Disk Digests > Load from Target > Process the disk. However when it got to the large 1.9 TB disk it doesn't make any mention of the digest at all but just starts processing. It's been going 60 hours and appears to trying to send the whole disk instead of just the changes.
I have updated support and am waiting for a reply.

Re: Backup Copy - Failed to load digests from target
As long as seeding procedure has been conducted promptly, the digest for the said disk should be calculated and only difference should be transferred. So, please, keep working with our support team on this issue.
Thanks.
Thanks.
