Hi,
Currently I have my prod backup copies in a GFS retention scheme, with 5 weekly rolling copies being kept on my local servers large repository.
However, I'd like to set up quarterly and yearly backups to go to a slow disk DAS I have.
I thought setting up a separate Backup Copy job for the quarterly/yearly jobs would be the correct thing to do, but I realise the retention policy will just replicate my local repository backup copy until the quarterly retention is reached, thus unnecessarily taking up space and resources.
My question is- is there a way to 'move' backup copies to different repositories automatically once retention periods are met? Since I can't see any GUI based option for this, I was thinking Powershell, but wondered whether anyone had any thoughts on this firstly.

Re: Backup Copy GFS query
I may have hopefully answered my own question. Create a separate Backup Copy job, running every 90 days with 2 restore points. Destination would be my DAS repository. Defining the quarterly and yearly retention points I need.
Does this sound like a valid move?

Re: Backup Copy GFS query
Yes, such configuration should meet your requirements.
