Hello,
In our infrastructure we do daily backups of VM's to a dedicated Backup Repository Server. Each Jobs has a retention of 30 Days. For some Backup Jobs we want to do a monthly take out to our Data Domain. So we have the first 30 Days a daily backup and then only one per month. Can this be done using a Veeam Backup Copy Job?
Best,
m

Re: Backup Copy Job for monthly TakeOut?
Yes, this is what backup copy jobs are designed for. Set the copy every interval to 30 days, specify the number of restore points you want to keep, and the job will offload the latest state of all added VMs to the target repository. Note, that each monthly restore point will be incremental.

Yes I noticed that each monthly restore point then will be incremental, which is not what we want unfortunately. It would be great if each month it will create a full backup (VBK) which we could export to tape then.

If the described approach doesn't work for you, you can stick to additional backup job, letting it always create full backup and selecting a monthly schedule for it.

v8 does have this functionality for Backup to Tape jobs. It can synthesize a full backup of most recent restore point from any backup chain, and put it on tape.mazebuhu wrote:It would be great if each month it will create a full backup (VBK) which we could export to tape then.
