Backup copy job GFS settings for minimum space usage on Veeam 12..

Hi All,

I think the GFS retention after upgrading to Veeam 12 is behaving weirdly. I remember changing the GFS settings during Veeam 11 or 11.5 and it was working fine.

My idea is to retain 12 monthly backup copies of the archive. So I've setup the GFS as 1 weekly (Sat) and 12 month (Last Week). Restore points is set up to 2 restore points.

But now on Veeam 12 I seems to have 8 restore points after running the job for 1 week. 2 Full backups and 6 increments.

Is this correct because my idea is to reduce storage space. Or can some one guide me on the new settings which I should set up to achieve this purpose for my 12 months retention? Thanks.

Hello,
the backup copy job behavior was changed in V11. Until V10, it was as you described, but that behavior was extremely complicated to explain and incompatible with immutability (Hardened Repository)

What you see today is correct.
