Backup copy job ignores existing backup chain

Backup copy job has a backup chain in every rotated media. When a rotated media is changed, sometimes ( not often ) backup copy job creates a full backup file instead of an incremental file in the new rotated media even though there is an existing backup chain in the media.

Case # 04937955 is under investigation.

Hi Charles,

I see you have an active discussion with Support (and already got an unexpected Full backup which was failed due to lack of space). It can become a guessing game here on forums so I would say you need to keep working with Support.
The reasons for such issue can be different but anyway we appreciate it if you share your results, so it might help the future readers.

Bitlocker is enabled in all the usb backup drives. Veeam support said it could be caused by Bitlocker. Don't understand, but will disable Bitlocker and see how it goes.

Disabled bitlocker, still failed.
Support analysed the logs, couldn't find the reason, said, it's a bug!

The support case was closed due to no response from the customer and I don't see any notes there mentioning logs review or the assumption that the observed behavior is a bug. Do you probably have another support case related to the same issue?

Indeed, under specific circumstances, a backup copy creates a full backup on a rotated drive instead of an incremental. This is a known issue but at the moment we cannot provide any ETA for when it is going to be addressed.
