Backup Copy Job missing "Read entire restore point from source"

Hi

Looking at the documentation for v10 and Copy Backup job; it should be possible to create active full backups.

On my v10 versions of VBR, I do not have a setting in the backup copy job for 'Read entire restore point from source..."

Can someone please explain the reason for this?

I'm debating whether or not to use Active Full or Synthetic for our GFS archives in copy backups to cross-wan SOBR with S3 Object Storage.

Hi Conrad,

In Backup and Replication v10 we have two backup copy modes: periodic copy and immediate copy.
With this option you are trying to use Active Full method for Archive backups. Active Full method is available only for the periodic copy mode.
Could you please check Copy mode for this job on the first step of job configuration?

Hi Natalia, I have reviewed the settings and that is the case.

If I select pruning then it allows an active full; out of curiosity, why can this not be selected with mirroring?

I think its not a problem for us. We will be using ReFS everywhere with synthetic weeklies; active full monthlies. So it will be copying data that has been through an active full anyway.

Hi Conrad,

We didn't have such use case when it was required to allow Active Full mode for immediate copy.
Also, we cannot determine each moment when Immediate copy will start, and that means we cannot predict anything about Active Full GFS.
