Backup Copy Job

Post by DaveN »

Hello,

I want to use Backup Copy Job to backup some data for let's say 5 years, if i use the archival option and use:

weekly:52
monthly:12
quarterly:4
yearly :5

Are that the correct numbers to use? or is that to much.

With kind regards,

Hi Dave,

How many restore points per year do you want to keep?

Thanks!

In this case GFS retention policy is not needed. Given that only 24 restore points per year is required, you can configure your backup copy job to store 120 restore points (2 restore points per month) with "copy every" interval set to 14 days.

If you decide to keep weekly backups for 5 years, then set weekly GFS retention policy to 240. Thanks!
