Backup copy- Merging

Hi,

When will a backup copy do a merge ?
I haven't seen any of my 4 backup jobs do a merge.
I would expect to see one every friday... no ?

I keep 31 restore points
Archive settings are the following:
weekly 24 Friday 10PM
montly 12 First friday of the month
quaterly 8 First friday of the quarter
yearly 2 First friday of the year

Merge will happen when you reach the retention period.

So if you have 31 retention points, it will happen as soon as the 32nd point is copied over.

We are using a Data Domain 2500 with DD boost...

That will give almost no impact as only last incremental is merged with full restore point.
