Backup copy supports forward incremental only

We had a number of Backup Copy jobs that were running successfully prior to version 8. Now we get the error message whenever we try to seed the existing job into our new design format. We had spoken to support in the past and were told it's an issue that should be fixed with a patch soon, but it's been close to two months and I'm unsure if the message I've received was accurate.

The Backup jobs themselves are set reverse incremental, as I was told for best practice when we started with 6.5 and 7. What's changed? We are currently on version 8, release .917.

Backup copy jobs support any type of job, be it forward or reversed incremental, however seeding is possible for forward incremental backup chains only. Please check out this KB for more info > http://www.veeam.com/kb1856

As a workaround, you can create temporary local backup copy job from the backup job and then use its new backup chain for seeding.

Could you expand on this a little? Create a local backup copy job to generate a full .vbk file, then use that? How does that allow us to create a reverse incremental backup copy chain for the newly generated job?

That will allow you to seed you backup copy jobs having only reverse incremental regular backups job. Backup copy jobs themselves cannot be reverse incremental.
