Hi ,
Backup Copy Architecture
To transport data from the source backup repository to the target backup repository, the backup copy job uses one of the following paths:
Direct transport path -> for this one.
Transport path over WAN accelerators ->
Source backup server (proxy server) can add remote CIFS share directly? or Suggest to add a new remote proxy server with CIFS server?
Thanks.

Re: Backup copy to remote site
Hello,
technically you can add a remote SMB (CIFS) share directly. But you don't want that for performance reasons Always use a gateway server on the target side to avoid merges over WAN
