Backup Copy to remote site

Post by khan_cloud »

We currently have the backup coy running from Primary Storage to Synology NAS using CISF/SMB share. Also we running a backup copy job from the Synology NAS to the second Synology NAS located on the same site. Now we are planning to move the secondary storage to remote location.

We have setup site to site VPN between the primary site and the remote site. For the backup copy to succeed and continue creating restore point and sync with jobs what port communication is needed. I read the Veeam documentation which suggests Veeam installs data movers on both source repository and target repository. Not clear which port it uses for communication. Do we need to allow SMB 445 or TCP UDP 6168 , 6169 , 6180 and 9392

Hi Israr, please refer to this section for the ports required in this case. You're correct that the gateway servers for your SMB repositories are required on both sides to install data movers. If you're going to use WAN accelerated transfer, then please refer to this section.
