Backup Copy: what will be copied?

Post by omfk »

Hi all,

we have two physical file servers (each ~2TB data) which are daily backed up by VAW Free onto our B&R server. Both backup jobs have 14 days retention. Once a week I have a backup copy job which copies both backups onto an external 4TB USB hard drive.

Which backup state is copied onto the external drive?

Based on my understanding the full backup files (2 weeks old) are copied. Is there a way to have the latest data on the external drive? Sourcing from the original servers isn't possible as one server is located in a remote office with a low bandwidth.

Hello Frank,
Backup copy job creates restore point based on all source restore points, both full and increments.
I would suggest reading this article.
Thanks!

Backup copy job copies blocks required to built restore point corresponding to the latest VM state available on source.
