Backup Copy Works

Post by handian.sudianto »

Hello,
How backup copy work? Until now i not understand how this work and hopefully some expert here can explain to me to my better understanding.

I have existing VBR job and we can see in the picture (https://pasteboard.co/bquJOq2TkTgM.jpg) i have 1 full backup and 5 incremental backup. This job use forever incremental backup and no any schedule for full backup

Yesterday i configure 2nd backup for this job and we can see in the picture (https://pasteboard.co/tMjvjzJKHkKV.jpg) i only have 1 full backup and 2 incremental backup.

So my question is :
2nd copy is not just copy existing file in 1st repository to 2nd repository?
2nd copy will make full backup when the job is running for first time by merger all available backup on 1st repository? So full backup on both repository can be differ?

      Hello Handian

      Have you tried our userguide?
      https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
2nd copy is not just copy existing file in 1st repository to 2nd repository?
No, it's not a exact copy of the source backup chain. The copy backup chain has it's own full backup.
2nd copy will make full backup when the job is running for first time by merger all available backup on 1st repository?
Initial run of the backup copy job takes the most recent restore point of the source job and creates a new full backup file in the copy location.
So full backup on both repository can be differ?
Yes. Backup Copy jobs have their own full backup schedule.

      Best,
