Backup Error

Post by espi3030 »

Hello all,

I am new to veeam backup (1st day) but I love it so far. I ran a backup job in my test environment and the backup appeared to complete, but I received the following error:

13 of 13 files processed

Total VM size: 25.00 GB
Processed size: 25.00 GB
Avg. performance rate: 32 MB/s
Backup mode: VCB SAN

Start time: 5/27/2009 4:28:08 PM
End time: 5/27/2009 4:41:36 PM

Completing current object backup process
Agents failed to start, server "localhost", client "servername.com"
Cannot connect to server [192.168.10.30:2500].

I am sure this is an easy fix for the experts out here. Veeam Backup is installed on my physical VCB proxy and is where I am running the backup from. (actual server name and IP was changed to protect the innocent). Can someone please help in explaining a solution for me? Thank you

Hello Alfred, what Veeam Backup and ESX host versions are you using, and what is this server: 192.168.10.30?

It would be best if you send us all logs from Help | Support information to support@veeam.com. Usually it is hard to say anything based on just summary error description, unless it is known issue we have seen before (which it is not).

Gostev,

Thank you for your reply, I am using Veeam Backup and FastSCP version 3.0.1 and backing up a VM on ESX 3.5.0 (158874). 192.168.10.30 is my VCB proxy server, I think I have the issue fixed. My VCB proxy server is in a firewalled network, I have requested port 2500 be opened and will try again. I will post my results here when it completes.

Thank you

It was a firewall issue. Problem solved, new backup task completed successfully!

Thanks for letting us know. You may want to open a few more ports above 2500 (2501, 2502 etc.) if you plan on running multiple jobs in parallel - it's one port per job.
