Backup Expiration Issue
Hi All,
I am new to VEEAM.
We are using VEEAM Backup version 9.5 for our VMWare environment.
Issue:
we are using scaleout backup repositories from EMC Data Domain.
i see backups are not properly expiring due to some reason, because of this Data Domain utilization going high and i am not sure how can i identify non expiring backups.
any help on this regard will be great.
thanks in advance.

Re: Backup Expiration Issue
Hello pbontala,
What type of backup job you are referring to? Please compare the retention value in backup job wizard (right click the job and navigate to storage step) with the existing number of restore points for your backup job (Home > Disk view). What policy you are using for your scale-out backup repository? Thanks.

Re: Backup Expiration Issue
Hi Dima P,
thanks for your swift reply.
i am referring to backup job, example, if i have set restore points to 31, but it is not expiring as expected on 32nd day, i see 60+ restore points and each backup job has different restore points.
i am using "Data Locality" policy for our scaleout repositories.

Re: Backup Expiration Issue
Thanks! Any chance periodic full backup (active full or synthetic full) is configured for your backup jobs?

Re: Backup Expiration Issue
Yes, once a week, Saturday will be Synthetic full for few jobs with smaller sized VMs and active FULL for larger VMs (above 1TB).

Re: Backup Expiration Issue
Each full will keep a chain, so you won't loose the old chain until you have a complete set on the new chain.
Many thanks
