Backup failed: Checking VM running state Min (10) must be...

Post by terkro »

Hi

One of our customers get this error in the backuplog:
Checking VM running state Min (10) must be less than or equal to max (-1) in a Range object.
The job fails just seconds after it started. Any suggestions?

Veeam backup V3

Terje, I suggest that your customer upgrade to the latest version of the product (which is 4.1). If this does not resolve the issue, please have them contact our support at support@veeam.com with full logs from Help | Support information for investigation.

Hi, one of our customers are allso getting this exact same error, seems to have happened after the most recent windows hotfix releases? Is there any feedback on the problem yet?

Checking VM running state Min (13) must be less than or equal to max (-1) in a Range object.

I just asked support - no results yet, the previous support case was just opened. It would help if you also open support case and provide us all logs - this may speed things up.

If your guess about Windows Update is true, then looking at the error I would say VMware Tools got messed up with this new Windows Update and no longer return correct value for VM running state parameter query. Just a guess though, need to have developers look at full logs to confirm.

Hi

Can I use the 3.0 license-file for 4.1? Or do they have to by an upgrade?

Hello Terje,

You should obtain new license file from our sales representative to use 4.1 version, as license files are not compatible. If you're on active maintenance plan your can upgrade to the latest version free of charge.

Thank you!

Hi

I`ve sent an email to sales@veeam.com last week but still haven`t got any reply.

Could you ask someone to answer?

Thanks :-)
