Hi everybody,
I just start to use Veeam Backup and Replication 3.1 and I have a question :
In the userguide we can read this :
ESXi cannot be used to accommodate the backup (VMware limitation). For this reason, ESXi servers are not
displayed in the Destination list.
So, it's impossible to backup a VM from an ESXi to a another ESXi, with Veeam Backup and Replication because there is a VMware limitation for ESXi and not for Esx. But when I try to do the same thing with VMX Explorer (Trilead), it works but it's very long. Why the limitation is existing for Veeam Backup and Replication and not for VMX Explorer ?
Thank you.

Re: Backup From ESXi to ESXi Limitation
John, this is because Veeam Backup uses synthetic backup. Simple file uploading to ESXi is not a problem indeed, we do that when restoring backups to ESXi, and our built-in file management functionality (aka FastSCP) also allows for this. Thank you!
