Backup from Storage Snapshots and VMWare Tools quiescence

Hello,

are there any plans for the next updates in Veeam to use VMWare Tools quiesced VM'S with backup from storage snapshots?
I am pretty sure ive read it in an other forum, that it will be supportet in vsphere 6.5?

currently we are running vsphere 5.5 but we want to upgrade next year.

Hi Yannick,

Can you elaborate on your request? Do you need this for application consistency? When using storage snapshots with Veeam, you still trigger a regular VM snapshot, see this link for more info > VM Data Processing

yes its needed for application consinstency. Crash consistency is not enough for our enviorment.

Hi Yannick, do you mean you cannot use application-aware processing and stick to VMware quiescence instead? What kind of connectivity do you have to your datastores? Unless it's NFS, you can use VMware quiescence with backup from storage snapshots even now.

we dont want to use application-aware processing because we need local administrator rights for it. We are working in a higher security level where we need to restrict as much as possible.

But yeah..we are using NFS...

We have plans to support VMware Tools quiescence for backup from storage snapshots in case of NFS datastores, but currently this is not possible.
