Backup job did not terminate when outside backup window.

hi all,

I got a job with two files servers in it.

Retention policy is 14 restore points, I use Incremental backups and create synthetic full backups every Friday and transform into rollback.

The backup window setting is Denied money through Friday from 07 - 22. Two nights in a row the second file server was unable to complete so the job terminated at 07am as expected. This morning on the third day since the job is still running after 07am.

Is this a built in integrity setting or something to protect the backup chain?

Not sure since I cannot see what particular operations does the job perform at that time. Basically, backup window setting should not affect synthetic full backup creation or transformation into rollbacks. You can lookup in the job session log and I recommend contacting support to take a closer look at what happens, if you feel the behavior is not expected.

Its not doing the synthetic creation just seems to be powering on with the incremental.

I will contact support and update here with their findings.

It is possible because I manually started this job myself as oposed to wait for the next scheduled run

Yes, when the job is started manually, backup window does not take effect.
