Backup offline & second instalation VCE

Post by pioter »

Hello everyone. We are doing a backup of nine Vmware machines. Using the "Community Edition" version. We would like to prepare an additional workstation with Veeam CE installed, in case of failure or hackers attack. To be able to restore the Vmware environment. Can we do that using "Community Edition"? It seems to me that our idea does not meet these criteria described in "3.22. Community Edition and Free Licenses" of Veeam Licensing Policy. But we are not sure. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi pioter

Welcome to the forums :-)

For a restore only scenario, this looks legit.
If your first Veeam Server has crashed, you have to install a second vbr server todo the restore. This is allowed with the community edition.

What you can‘t do, is to use multiple vbr community editions at the same time to protect different vms from the same source infrastructure.

Thanks for the info, that's exactly how we want to be prepared just in case of an armageddon in the infrastructure with a non-functioning backup server
