Backup or replicate offsite.
I replicate my machines between both offices for DR
I also back them up (currently one way, but that will change soon)
I want some non company storage options though and although I have a veeam cloud account, it's
a hefty premium for having it presented via Veeam.
2 questions
Should I backup or replicate off-site?
What other non veeam storage options are being used?
As speed isn't an issue I'd like to mount the cloud storage as a drivbe letter and backup/replicate to that, (obviously this isn't via a Veeam cloud provider)
Thanks
*edit* I think waiting for V10 is the answer.
I've read it integrates with the likes of backblaze - unless I've read that wrong?
Makes little sense to me because everyone could drop veaam cloud products In favour but perhaps I'm missing something.

Re: Backup or replicate offsite.
Hello Darren,
Indeed, it's recommended to keep one copy of backups offsite.
You may backup/replicate between your sites. By the way, if you do both backup and replication, there is a way not to double the workload on the virtual infrastructure.
As for other options, you may try cloud backup and/or cloud replication.
Besides, some people leverage tape storage options.
I don't see why you need to wait for v10. Could you elaborate?
Thanks!

Re: Backup or replicate offsite.
I believe that adding b2 storage as a backup repository isn't available until V10?
I backup on Mo Wed & Fri
I replicate Tur Thur & Sat
And while I've looked at remote replica, I cant say I fully understand it.

Re: Backup or replicate offsite.
Got it. Indeed "independent" clouds are not supported yet.
And why not to leverage Veeam Cloud Connect and store your backups/replicas on service provider infrastructure?
As for "Replica from Backup" feature, I recommend you to give it a try. As a result you will have twice less snapshots taken and data traffic among the sites.
Thanks!

Re: Backup or replicate offsite.
Because Veeam cloud connect is very expensive.
Yes they have to use Veeam product which adds to the cost, but the end user (AFAIC) gains nothing.
Backblaxe storage is half the cost, if not less.
Perhaps someone could point me a more detailed (but not necessarily technical) info on Replica from backup.
Thanks

Got it.
I've posted the link to the corresponding UG section. Have you reviewed it?
Here is another good explanation.
