Hi,
Is it good idea to use Windows 8.1 virutal machine as a Backup Proxy (Virtual Appliance mode on ESXi)? If yes, which version: Win8.1 or Win8.1 Pro?
I have "no budget" to buy server licenses for proxy.

Pawel, yes, Veeam B&R proxy components can be installed on Windows 8.1, please see Veeam B&R system requirements.

Re: Backup Proxy requirements
Hi Alex,
Thank you for your answer.
I asked also about Win8.1 vs Win8.1 Pro. Is there any reason to buy 8.1 Pro version against "standard" Win 8.1? (I'll never login to the proxy).

OS edition does not matter. Just make sure you're running at least Veeam B&R 7.0 R2 update.
