Backup Replica Seeding - Where is my Repository?

Post by oliverL »

Hi,

i just don't understand why it wont work but maybe you have a hint for me:
Setup:

1 vmWare Cluster where my "VM" resides in
1 ESX-Host which is currently in this Cluster and should be my replication DR-Site Target for Veeam Replication
1 Backup Repository with physical DAS as a scale-out Repository where the Backup-Job saves the "VM"

On the Cluster and on the Host i have virtual Proxys running.

Now, after i did the initial Backup of the "VM" on the Scale-Out Repository i wanted to use this Backup which is stored onto my scale-out Repository as a seed for Replication my "VM" to my DR-ESX Host

But i can't choose my scaleout Repository where my Backup is stored as a replica Metadata Repository or as a Seed Repository because the Scale-Out Repo isn't even listed there.

No different Networks and stuff the Scale-Out Repository Server can atleast ping the mgmt adress of my DR-ESX-Host

So what did i oversee that i can't see my Scale-Out Repository for my Veeam Replication Job? (Funny enough i see the Repository from another country there).

best regards

Allright i've found my answer:
You cannot use the scale-out backup repository as a target for the following types of jobs:
Configuration backup job
Replication jobs
VM copy jobs
Veeam Endpoint backup jobs (created by Veeam Endpoint Backup 1.5 or earlier)

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... tml?ver=95

Now this sucks as it seems i have to destroy the scale-out Repository :(

Hi Oliver, you could copy the backup out of the SOBR to use it for seeding. Btw, any reason for making it a SOBR, since it is a single storage, as far as I understood from your post?
