Backup Repository maximum concurrent settings ?

Hi All,

What's the best practice in configuring the maximum concurrent write process for Backup Repository in Veeam v9.0 ?
So far I'm just limiting it to one per repository, but wondering if I can increase it to shorten the backup copy window or 1 is the sweet spot.



Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Right, it also depends on what your underlying storage is capable of, so you could increase it gradually to find the optimal setting.

Hi All,

My backup repository is Directly Attached Storage HP StorageWorks D2600 (12 x 3 TB SAS HDD) running as RAID 6.
each LUNs is 13.5 TB NTFS formatted 64 KB allocation unit size (256 KB stripe size)

In total there are Backup Copy 23 Jobs storing backup to those LUNs.
So far due to the limitation, I get:

Backup files health check has been completed
Resource not ready: Backup repository
Failed to verify backup file metadata Error: Timed out waiting for backup infrastructure resources to become available (82800 sec)
Some VMs were not processed during the copy interval

and

Incremental copy was not processed during the copy interval

intermittently.

So all jobs run sequentially due to the max concurrent tasks limitation? What are the bottleneck stats for them?

The bottleneck stats when I double click on the backup copy job is Source ?

My predecessor configure the Backup Proxy like the following:

30 TB LUNs splitted into three drive letters:
Backup Repository 1 - 10 TB - Max concurrent write 1
5 backup jobs uses this repository

Backup Repository 2 - 10 TB - Max concurrent write 1
4 backup jobs uses this repository

Backup Repository 3 - 10 TB - Max concurrent write 1
6 backup jobs uses this repository

Does this can be simplifed by placing it into:

1x Backup Repository 30 TB - Max concurrent write 3
15 Backup jobs in total using this repository

Sory for the confusion, the bottlneck was the network:

You can combine the repositories, if required. However, increasing the max number of tasks when the network is reported as bottleneck will not help.

What is the full job statistics including percentages on each stage?
As for maximum concurrent tasks on the repository I would increase it gradually to find the best configuration practically as was suggested above.
